Multiwasher MW-3 – Industrial Parts Washer

The MultiWasher MW-3 is a parts washing machine and multi-purpose wash cabinet for crates, bins, containers and production parts. It has two separate 350-litre tanks: a pre-wash tank and a thermally insulated wash tank. The pre-wash loosens coarse soil into its own tank, and the actual wash runs on a separate washing solution – alkaline or acid. Interchangeable adapter trolleys and 20 modifiable washing programs match the machine to the item, and water consumption is 30–90 litres per wash.

Technical Description

Two-tank system: separate pre-wash tank and wash tank The MW-3 has two separate 350-litre tanks. The pre-wash tank takes off coarse soil, food residue and fat before the actual wash. The thermally insulated wash tank circulates the chosen washing solution, alkaline or acid, with detergent concentration adjustable from the control panel between 0.2 and 1.5 %. In a single-tank machine the soil from the pre-wash ends up in the same solution as the actual wash: the solution gets dirty, detergent performance drops and the result varies within the shift. In the MW-3 the washing solution stays clean longer, the result does not depend on how many washes into the shift you are, and the interval between solution changes gets longer. Thermal insulation keeps the temperature steady, so less heating energy is used. Adapter trolleys fit the cabinet to the item The MW-3 is an all-in-one washing solution for many kinds of production equipment, and it also works as an industrial parts washer. With adapter trolleys the same cabinet efficiently and hygienically cleans items such as lift trolleys, stackable crates, screen plates, freezing plates and plastic pallets. Ready-made adapter trolleys are available for 660-litre containers, meat industry trolleys, metal bins and containers, and for two bins at a time. Additional adapters and programmes can be supplied later, so the same machine can take on new items as your production changes. Wash programmes and consumption The control system holds 20 modifiable recipes. A recipe can be set up for each washing solution and each item, and also for cleaning the inside of the machine, so every item is washed with a programme that suits it. Capacity is 10–30 wash cycles per hour, and average water consumption is 30–90 litres per wash depending on the items. Energy, detergent and water consumption are optimised, which keeps operating costs low. Heating and utilities The wash tank is heated by steam injector, water-based radiator or electricity. The power supply is 400 V, 50 Hz, 19 kW with steam heating and 400 V, 50 Hz, 70 kW with electric heating. Steam heating needs 80–100 kg/h of steam (0.6–0.9 bar, approx. 45 kW). Rinsing uses warm tap water (+50–70 °C, 20–60 l/min, 3 bar). The machine also needs compressed air (6 bar, 20–40 l/min), ventilation of 0.4 m³/s and a floor drain (d = 110 mm). Cabinet dimensions are given in the layout drawing. A compact answer to production washing needs Thanks to its compact design, the MW-3 reduces investment and space requirements. The machine is made of stainless steel and is designed and built at Pohjaranta's factory in Säkylä, Finland. For bigger batches there is the extended MW 3-2-2, with up to 60 % more throughput per wash and the same adapter trolleys. Multiwasher MW-3 FAQ How is the Multiwasher different from a workshop parts washer? A workshop parts washer is usually a small sink or bench unit where parts are cleaned by hand. The MW-3 is a closed industrial wash cabinet with two separate tanks, programmable wash cycles and adapter trolleys for large items such as bins and plastic pallets. What washing solution does it use? An alkaline or acid washing solution. The concentration is set from the control panel between 0.2 and 1.5 %, and recipes are made for each solution and item. How much water does one wash use? On average 30–90 litres per wash, depending on the items. Can adapters be added later? Yes. Additional adapters and wash programmes can be supplied later, and the adapter trolleys also fit the extended MW 3-2-2.
